This dynamic Herbal Studies Certification Program consisists of 3 courses, each lasting 2 weeks. Each course is filled with wonderful hands-on experience as well as important classroom study.
Herbal ‘medicine’ has been used for ages to treat ailments of the human body. As the Western world accepts the approaches of traditional and alternative methods of healing, the field of herbalism is viewed as one that is growing in its acceptance and use. Plants have long been the source for our modern pharmaceutical medications. Herbal medicine includes the study of plants and phytochemicals and their actions on the human body. This course is an introduction to the use of herbs in benefiting the human body.
Our Herbal Studies Certification Program covers the history, theory, and practical application of herbal medicine. Body systems are studied so that a basic understanding of how they function is learned. A core group of plants is studied for each organ system, with the indications, contraindications, and actions discussed for each herb. Botany sessions will cover plant systems, structures and field identification of locally growing plants. ‘Lab’ sessions will allow you to gain hands-on experience in the making of various herbal preparations. Ceremonial and spiritual uses of plants will also be discussed.
Each level builds on the previous, ending with our Professional level training, where we discuss the elements of beginning your own herbalism practice, aspects of business and marketing, laws and rules, and helping you to prepare a business plan. Students will be awarded a Certificate of Completion for each successfully completed course. An Herbal Studies Certification will be awardced after the completion of all three courses.

Center for Massage & Natural Health is approved by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) as a continuing education Approved Provider. All workshops provide NCBTMB approved contact hours.
