9.8 Bodywork for Women’s Health: The Belly with Leslie Stager

September 8, 2019

Sunday 9-4:30 pm

What you will learn in this course:

• How to explain the benefits of abdominal/uterine/pelvic bodywork to clients

Leave with a proficiency in touching the abdomen and palpating the diaphragm, intestines, kidneys, uterus, bladder, and diastasis recti.

• How to implement massage techniques for constipation, hiatal hernia, and the ileocecal valve

By practicing reverent belly touch with confidence, you can not only address muscle tension and common abdominal complaints, but you and your clients will ultimately discover that the majority of our physical and emotional health and tension is stored in the belly. Skilled abdominal massage can bring a new sense of vitality and freedom for the body and mind.

A little about the modality:

After learning the basic layout of the belly, we will work carefully and directly on the belly with careful listening, acupressure, trigger points, fascial release, and deep abdominal-pelvic palpation massage. All clients can benefit from this work and it can be integrated into any full body massage or focused technique massage as a way to help center a client, alleviate pain, and reduce stress.

Your instructor Leslie Stager:

Leslie Stager is a Registered Nurse and massage therapist with a deep appreciation for women’s health. Through her own exploration of the belly, she found fibroid tumors in her uterus and freed herself from painful abdominal adhesions. She has trained with Rosita Arvigo’s Techniques of Mayan Abdominal Massage, Tami Kent’s Holistic Pelvic Care, and Marty Ryan’s Love Your Guts.
She has participated in dissections looking at the abdominal organs, and has included the belly in all her bodywork sessions for the past 25 years.
